Reforming Social Security's Disability Benefits System

With funding from the National Council on Disability and in partnership with the National Disability Institute, the University of Utah, and others, IHDPS staff is working on this project to develop recommendations to modernize and preserve Social Security disability programs in ways that will optimize work opportunities for people with disabilities who are able to work and preserve the safety net for those who cannot. In particular, Dr. Hall is providing expertise on findings from Medicaid Buy-In programs and various federal demonstration projects that have been conducted to decrease the growth in Social Security disability programs.

Project activities include conducting an exhaustive review of existing state level data and meeting with stakeholders to ensure that all viewpoints are considered.
